Concussions
The Glebe Little League takes the issue of Concussion Safety very seriously and is pleased to provide the resources listed below to inform players, parents and coaches about concussions and their potential consequences if not treated in the appropriate manner.
Rowan’s Law Requirements for all Sports Leagues in Ontario
The Ontario Government has enacted Rowan’s Law (Concussion Safety), 2018, S.O. 2018,c. 1 (“Act”). Ontario Regulation 161/19. the Act requires all sports organisations as defined in the Regulation (“Sports Organization”), which includes Little League Canada and the Glebe Little League, to have a Concussion Code of Conduct. This Concussion Code of Conduct must require participants, as set out in the Act, to review the Ontario Government’s issued Concussion Awareness Resources on an annual basis. A participant is subject to a Concussion Code of Conduct for each Sports Organisation a participant registers with.
At or before Spring Sort Outs each player below 18 years of age and one of their parents or legal guardians must sign the Glebe Little League Rowan’s Law Acknowledgement Form. Players 18 years of age or older also need to sign the form but they do not require the additional signature of a parent or legal guardian. A copy of the Acknowledgement Form for your review and signature can be found here
